LARS (GChEx, Am Ch Braewood Grand Larceny CGN)

Braewood Cockers has been located in Edmonton, AB since 1987.  The owner, Marnie Wood, has been breeding and showing cockers since 1971.  Many beautiful cockers have been born here over the years.  Marnie has a good eye for picking show dogs.  She was taught by Dot Cater, of Desert Sands Cockers in Arizona, and consequently likes a short back, good topline and tailset, long neck, and good reach and drive and is able to pick out these traits in puppies at a young age.

In Marnie’s first litter was Glenmurray’s Robert the Bruce, CD.  Robert was born in Marnie’s office at UCLA early one morning while she was upstairs in the hospital checking on her students.  His entry into the world was likely the most illustrious of any of Marnie’s dogs.  Robert was a beautiful black & tan dog who brought much joy to all who knew him.  He lived to make the trip from California to Alberta in 1987.

Shortly after moving to Canada, Marnie bred a pretty black bitch named Desi (Braemar Advanced Design) to one of the great dogs of the time, “Smash” (Ch Camelot’s Counterfeit, bred by Lou and Amy Weiss).  The four puppies from this litter all finished quickly.  They were:

From this litter, Music stayed on at Braewood Cockers to become our all-time best producer.  Among the many lovely puppies from her 3 litters were:

As of 1996, Ditto was the best Braewood show dog born in Canada.   She won many group placements and was the first Braewood dog to win Best in Show.  In 1998, she was the #3 Cocker Spaniel in Canada (#1 Bitch).  Ditto was handled to her many wins in Canada by Lori Gauvin, and in the USA by Per Ingar Rismhyr.

Ditto’s daughter, Tiffany (Ch Braewood Klad in Black) was bred to Chad (Ch Tis Days Lydgate Legal Issue) in 2003, to produce 5 beautiful puppies.  One of these, Lars, turned out to be the top winning Braewood dog of all time (see top photo).  Multiple group and Best in Show winner, Lars was the #2 Cocker in Canada in 2007.   Lars is now a Veteran, and still winning Best in Specialty Show awards, as recently as the Midwest Cocker Spaniel Club Specialty Show, June 1, 2014 under Judge Billie Hayes.
